Battery Stevenson, named for Brigadier General Thomas G. Stevenson, who was killed in action in Spotsylvania, Virginia on May 10, 1864, during the US Civil War. These were Fort Warren's big fists, two M1895 12" Disappearing Guns. Which of course is not what we're looking at here, because those guns themselves are long gone, having been transferred to Watervliet Arsenal near Albany, New York in 1944.
