We continue our tour of the interior of Fort Mifflin with the Officers' Quarters. Constructed in 1814, this building housed four officers, with two apartments on each floor.

Part of Fort Mifflin's charm is that it's haunted (of course). One of the fort's more colorful haunting stories is that of the Screaming Woman. This is the ghost of an officer's wife, who forbade her daughter to marry another young officer. The daughter soonafter died of typhoid fever, and to this day, the ghost of the mother can occasionally be seen in this building's upper-floor windows...but only by children. Does this ghost scream? Apparently not, which makes one wonder how she came across her name.

And yes, that is an airliner. You, sir (or madam, though I suspect sir is more likely), have a keen eye indeed.
