A 24-pound howitzer that was mounted on the CSS Georgia, one of several vessels of the Confederate Navy that assisted Fort James Jackson in keeping the US Navy out of Savannah; and a Model 1846 32-pounder that was also mounted on the Georgia. This gun was cast in Virginia in 1852 as a smoothbore, and converted to a rifle in 1862 by adding rifling to the interior its barrel...as rifling on the exterior of a gun's barrel would be pointless, if esthetically pleasing.
