As one exits the museum, one walks into the reproduction British Encampment. This depicts the positions that the British held whilst trying to take Fort Erie back from the Americans. These earthworks were the home to around 3,000 British and Canadian troops through August and September of 1814, were armed with cannon, howitzers, mortars and rockets, and were probably a little further away from Fort Erie than where these two dejected-looking reenactors were doing their duty during my visit. At least they look dejected from this distance...
