...and then I found out. Accidentally crashing through perhaps fifteen feet of high, seemingly impenetrable brush towards the river, I made it to the riverbank and was confronted with this. Not specifically this sink, but hundreds of yards of riverbank that was completely covered with the metal, glass and pottery detritus from another age.

At first I thought, why, these are the remnants of countless tragic shipwrecks, right here on the Delaware River! But...all of these heavy metal objects floated to the bank? It's not like the tide brought them here. No, this was the location that Fort DuPont used as its junkyard for fifty years!
