Along the west wall, looking towards the southwest wall. The bowling alley is along the bottom of the west wall. You can't see this of course, but trust me. It's a bowling alley. Would I make up something as ridiculous as that?

Newport was a relatively posh city in the late 19th and early 20th century, with loads of prissy rich folks who did not appreciate the ne'er-do-wells stationed at Fort Adams coming into their midst. As such, soldiers were frequently confined to base, and entertainments had to be devised to keep them busy. Baseball was often played on the fort's parade ground, we've spoken about the bowling alley, and Fort Adams had an arcade with the first Pac-Man machine in 1904*.

*I made that last part up.
